Texas: an overview of my first week

Everybody that I meet in Texas always asks me how do I like here. So I've decided to write an overview of my firt impressions about Texas.
First of all I am really happy of being here! I have never thought that people here would be that receptive, friendly, helpful... It makes me feel home. So thanks guys for that!!
The most difficult thing that I've found in Lubbock is to cross the street!!!! Yes, it's weird but true! The streets here are too large and they have almost no sidewalks. That is because almost everybody has a car, or better, a truck (I will talk about this in the following paragraphs) and doesn't usually walk. Sometimes it takes you really long to cross the street, even on the crosswalks. But I am getting used to that!
The University is amazing! The campus is one of the biggest continuous campus in US and has lots of student facilities all around. The most interesting thing about the University here is that everybody is really crazy about it, and even more when the subject is football! They have flags, t-shirts, cups, glasses, everything about the University. I've heard that on the day of the match people usually arrive four hours before the game starts to make barbecue and drink beer. I will write more about that after watching a match.
Ok... about the trucks that I've mentioned before: people here in Texas are kind of "crazy about big toys". You need a ladder to climb up on some of the trucks! They are really big and nice!
"Bueno", that is all for now. As soon as I have more news and more things to bring up I will write!
Cheers!!

  2. haha, I know what you are talking about when it comes to crossing streets, actually I managed to cross even without knowing how it works. The Americans are accostumed with a different yielding system, as you noticed. When you figure out their trick, tell me, please.
Keep us informed! Big hugs, big boy!
